children therapy in Brighton and Hove
Children and Young People
Our Young Person Counselling Service supports young people aged 7 to 16.
This service provides young people with the opportunity to talk about anything that is worrying them such as relationships, families, drugs, pregnancy, sexuality, bullying, stress, and depression.
Some of these may be a result of school or college, problems with friendships or heartbreaks, dealing with a divorce or death of a close one. Whatever the context counselling can offer relief from unbearable sensations, feelings, thoughts and worries.
When working with children aged 6-11 the therapy session might include play, doing art or any other activity that is not solely talking. It is difficult at this age for children to engage in this type of work for 50 minutes, and so often sessions tend to be reduced to 30 minutes.
Bonita Holland is our child and young person Therapeutic Counsellor. She's fully insured and has undergone a DBS check.
She has worked with young people for 38 years in the NHS and Education. Prior to retraining as a counsellor, Bonita was a successful Headteacher as well as a Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO).
Bonita has a Masters Degree in Social Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties in Children and Young people and has helped 100s of young people achieve their dreams and goals, and overcome difficult feelings or worries.
She is kind and straightforward and more importantly young people find her easy to talk to.
Bonita suggests an initial 6-10 sessions with a review at the end and the option to add more sessions if required. She offers a free initial30 minute consultation
