Pg Dip Psychodynamic Therapeutic Counselling, MBACP
Hi, thanks for stopping at my profile. My name's Katy and I have a BACP Accredited post graduate qualification in Psychodynamic Therapeutic Counselling from Brighton University.
I can support people suffering from depression, anxiety, bereavement, loss of pregnancy and history of childhood sexual abuse. I have also got a special interest in obsessions and OCD, as well as on the impact that culture and gender have on the way we feel in the world.
I will offer you a confidential and safe space to explore the issues that have brought you to counselling, while together we try to figure out how you can start enjoying life again and making the most of your relationships so they return to feel loving and secure.
Counselling and psychotherapy are joint efforts, I will not assign you any homework, but would expect you to be curious about the process and yourself. Yet, I know that starting counselling isn't easy, and for this reason, I will make sure that you are put at ease and are able to take your time in telling me your story - it will always be up to you to choose what material you want to bring to the sessions.
As a psychodynamic counsellor, I believe that our present emotional struggles don't develop in a vacuum, but are often linked to earlier experiences. This is not to say the focus will be solely on the past, but that I will invite you to develop a way of exploring your difficulties that takes everything into account, and goes beyond the concrete succession of events.
Most people enjoy this way of working and as a result develop a more creative way of being, so I hope you will welcome it too and give it a try. I look forward to hearing from you.
